How Much Cable’s Gun In Deadpool 2 Actually Weighs

Cable running with gun in Deadpool 2
If you look up "badass" in the dictionary, it's possible you might see a picture of X-Men character Cable next to the definition. Since he was introduced in 1990, Cable has been one of the most recognizable tough guys in the world of comic books, from his bulked-out frame to his metal arm to the gigantic gun he carries around. All these elements have been appropriately kept intact for Josh Brolin's Cable in Deadpool 2, but with this character finally being brought to the big screen also comes a little dose of reality, because if you're going to carry around a gun that big, it will end up weighing a lot. As Rob Liefeld, who co-created both Deadpool and Cable, learned from Brolin, the gun the actor carried around weighed 70 pounds! Liefled recalled:
Josh gave me the rifle to hold and said, 'Be prepared: This is heavy. It's a 70-pound rifle! And he's like, 'I got to run up hills with this thing.'
Later in his interview with THR, Rob Liefeld mention that he had stressed out about how who director David Leitch and the Deadpool 2 team were going to pick to play Cable, saying:
Casting Cable was the most important thing this movie had to do. I I lived and died by whatever name leaked that day. I had ulcer upon ulcer upon ulcer.
Fortunately for Rob Liefeld, he was elated upon learning that Josh Brolin would bring his creation to life. Like his comic book counterpart, Brolin's Cable hails from an apocalyptic future, and while we haven't learned yet what and how brings him to the present day in Deadpool 2, you can be sure that once he crosses paths with Deadpool, he'll quickly grow annoyed by Wade Wilson's fourth wall-breaking personality.
Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18, and since Josh Brolin signed a four-picture deal to play Cable, we'll be seeing plenty more of the character in the coming years, with his next appearance likely being the X-Force movie. If you're interested in what other movies are coming out this year, head to our 2018 release schedule.
